Here's a bunch more mostly older vessels.

Most of those listed are 440 model "Version 1" and have the one-berth single cabin forward. That might work OK at anchor, but imagine what it would be like to try to stay in that bunk under sail!

Our crew remained perfectly comfortable in two forward cabins, on our 6 day trip home from Tortola, in respectably heavy weather.
Or cut through and hinge the divider to make it convertible!

The highly experienced crew at BVI Painters performed a bottom peel and epoxy barrier coat in 2004 at Nanny Cay Marina, Tortola, BVI.
The bottom remains in excellent condition, as of our haul-out in  May of 2011, still protected by this epoxy barrier.

Virtually all boat hulls are laid up with polyester resin, which absorbs water. It is likely that any vessel you look at with a little age on her will have some osmotic blistering. The osmosis in this case was manifest as a best-case light rash that did not penetrate beyond the matt layer under the gelcoat.

I've been told that the cost of a peel and epoxy on a vessel of this size today would run in excess of $15,000.

Here is a link to Beneteau for the operating manual for the 440.
The link to download a PDF of the manual is just below the picture on the right side of that web page. The subject vessel of this web site is layout "Version 2" as diagramed in that manual.

Description

Formerly in service in the charter fleets of Tortola, we purchased the vessel in late 2,003 to use as a daysailer. Having come from a bareboat fleet she remains pretty much bare. Thus there is no generator, AC or heat. However if the vessel did have these systems they would be the same age as the vessel. She is priced well enough below market, to allow installing these systems new if desired, with the added benefit of the manufacturer's warranties.

Vessel includes all required Coast Guard equipment like PFDs, fire extinguishers, fog bell and such.
The Yanmar 4JH2E engine (photo below) works fine.
Roller furling main like new, roller furling genoa OK.
Individual cockpit cushions are comfortable but show their age. Bimini fabric could stand to be replaced.
Wouldn't hurt for the fabric cushion covers on the bunks below to be taken off and washed. The salon seat cushions are leather-like.
Gelcoat should be compounded and waxed.

The VHF works fine.
I added an EPIRB
The cold plate refrigeration system worked when I bought the vessel, but not having been used regularly, doesn't work at present. Perhaps just low on freon. For daysailing the cooler in the cockpit table works great, and the engine would have to be run longer than the 15 minutes it takes us to get out to the ocean and set sail, in order to cool down the cold plate fridge anyway. There are excellent low voltage fridges on the market today that can operate on small wind generators.
Anchor windlass worked fine when we got the vessel but doesn't presently work, also from disuse. I suspect something minor.

Haul-out May 2011 - Before Paint

Tight hull to keel joint

After Paint (still drying and before tape was taken off)

Pics of haulout in 2010 had a little better lighting conditions

Before the hull was peeled and epoxied in 2004, the osmosis was
manifest as a best-case fine rash, rather than deep penetration.

Buggered port toe rail chipped a little gel coat.
